He completed his ClA career as the Chief of Special Operations in the Counterterrorism Center. John also served five years as a Naval Officer, qualifying as a nuclear engineer and serving aboard USS Bainbridge (CGN-25), including two tours in the Western Pacific during the Vietnam War.
Douglas H. Wise retired from the CIA in August 2016 after nearly three decades of service, finishing his career as the Deputy Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. During his nearly 30 years of service, he led several of the Agency's most important components at ClA Headquarters and served four times as a Chief of Station, including a tour as a Chief of Station in Baghdad. He was also the CIA's Chief of Operational Training and ran one of the CIA's largest covert action programs.
